Seoul Riders

I rode with the local boys again last weekend. It was a kick-ass session. There were about 15 riders there ripping up the crowd. The riders here are really good. Some of them have only been riding for a couple years and they're way better than me. I was impressed. Everyone was super cool. No arrogant bullshit like those shitheads in Australia. Everyone here was having a good time.

I hope I can keep up the sessions with these guys. Saturday and Sunday are the only days I have a chance to ride. This job sucks ass. Koreans give their whole life up once they get a job at a company. There's no separation between work and life here. Almost all of my students who have jobs work about 12 hours a day, six days a week. They don't do anything else but work and then drink with their coworkers afterward. It's mandatory for them to socialize and drink with their coworkers several times a week. It's part of the company culture. So anyway, the company I work for expects us to work the same. I say go to hell.

Oh yeah, Korea now has the highest rate of suicides per year in the world.

So does that have to do with the influence of Confucianism? What are the family structures like? Do Koreans live as individuals, singles? Can you convince your bosses that flatland is part of a very important and healthy social structure? I hope you buy a digital camera soon.
