So Damned Close

I ALMOST got a hang-five to double whiplash without brakes. I mean, I was so close I could taste it. They are going to happen and soon. I have been trying these for so long...literally years. Maybe a decade. I have done several whiplashes with my brakes, but it is such a hard trick without brakes. I will get this!

Sonny came and rode with us. He was doing pretty good, considering how little he rides. Darrel and I did our best to irritate Joe and get him riled up. It worked.

A great session. Thanks Joe!

Life in Korea

Hey, guys, greetings from Korea! I haven't posted on here in a while, so I thought I better send an update. I see Paul never posts on here anymore. Hey, Paul, are you still alive buddy?

Yeah, just when I was enjoying riding with you guys again, I had to leave. I miss riding with the BBB and Portland crew. I haven't been riding since I got here. Part of the reason is the cold. It is bloody COLD here. When you go outside, you can feel the cold sticking to your skin. It'll freeze your nuts until your face turns blue. But the other reason is there's nowhere to ride! Seoul is built in the middle of mountains and hills, so there's no flat space anywhere. And there's no such thing as a parking lot. People just park anywhere there's space, like sidewalks and in the middle of the road (I'm not kidding. I saw one guy park in the middle of the street for like 30 minutes and no one could drive around him).

Today I went out in search of a flat space. I rode all around my neighborhood with no luck. I'll try again tomorrow.

I live in this really popular area surrounded by universities. Everyday I see hundreds and hundreds of young college students in the streets. And lots of girls, oh yeah. Riding the bus here is a life and death experience. The bus drivers go about 70 mph on the main road here, and they just change lanes without even looking. All the other cars on the road just have to stay clear of buses. I took a taxi once and the guy went through two red lights without even stopping. Here, a red light means stopping is optional. I can hear the constant sound of cars honking. People honk for at least ten seconds. Ah, the glory of the angry city.

The job is pretty good. I teach mostly university girls. heh heh heh. It's all I can do to maintain my composure. They call me "Teacher" or "Teacher Chris". It's really funny. Some of them choose the most ridiculous English names. Usually I ask if they have an English name so I can remember (it's company policy to remember ALL your student's names. Try memorizing 80 Korean names that sound like Hyoung Suk and Sukyoung or Hye Rim. It's impossible). So this one guy tells me his name is Warenz. He insists it's an English name. I told him otherwise. One girl made up a name like Rowel. This other guy has the best name though: Bones. What a badass.

Fux News with Bob Koche

"And the top story, this evening; A total shut-down of communication between the once-close Joe and Paul. Kraven Moorehead has the story...Kraven?"
"Yes, Bob! Apparently, Joe and Paul are having a silent, cell-phone confrontation. Sources tell me that Joe has reached his limit and Paul is unresponsive. With tensions running high on both sides of the fence, friends are concerned." [Switch to video]

" Now only time will tell the outcome, Bob, but this would appear to be a instance of Joe reaching out to the unreachable. Back to you, Bob!"

Back-assed

Man, backpain sucks! I miss over two days of work this week because my back got worse and I couldn't even stand straight. I went to the chiropractor (he is Swedish!) and he worked me over, BAD! But it was worth it because I feel so much better. My chronic pain is greatly diminished and that has really improved my mood. I can't wait to get back on my bike! It is sitting here behind me feeling sorry for itself. I know I have put on some weight because I just layed on the couch for two days.

The downside is that I have to make up all my time at work. Oh well.
